Background information on the Seminar:

Injuries Are Costly!

One of the greatest health concerns facing Canadians today is unintentional injuries and injury related deaths. In fact, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for Canadians between the ages of 1 and 44. Injuries kill more young people between the ages of 1 and 20 than all other causes of death combined.

Over 2 million Canadians are treated annually at an economic cost of more than $8.7 million dollars. A recent study titled “ The Economic Burden of Unintentional Injuries in Saskatchewan” conducted by the SmartRisk Foundation found that injuries cost Saskatchewanresidents approximately $595 million dollars a year.

What Is the Industrial Safety Seminar?

Industry has known for many years that safety doesn’t cost – it pays. The Industrial Safety Seminar was started in 1974 by a group of concerned individuals with the aim of giving safety professionals in Saskatchewana forum to discuss areas of common concern and bringing a high quality safety event to the province.

Since 1974, the event has grown to become Saskatchewan’s premier safety show and one of the largest events of its type in western Canada. The 35thAnnual Industrial Safety Seminar will feature approximately 25 educational sessions with speakers from Saskatchewan, Canadaand the United States. It will also feature one of the largest displays of safety equipment and services in western Canadawith over 60 display booths.

When and Where Will the Industrial Safety Seminar Be Held?

The 35thAnnual Industrial Safety Seminar will take place on February 4, 5 & 6, 2008 at TCU Place, S About the SaskatchewanSafety Council
