August 2007:

The CSA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety Standard was formalized in January of 2006.  The CSA structured the Technical Committee (TC) following due process, and the first meeting was held in October of 2006 in Toronto.

Following this critical first meeting the TC took shape, additional members joined and the process of adopting NFPA 70E to CSA Z462 became a reality.  The second meeting of the TC was held in Calgary, prior to the 2007 IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop. 

Again additional progress was made, CSA presented the 1^stdraft of the Z462 standard to the Technical Committee, a reformatted NFPA 70E to meet CSA’s formatting requirements.  At this second meeting the structure of Working Groups and Sub-Committees was taking shape.  The third meeting was held in June of 2007 in Halifax, following CSA’s 2007 Annual General Meeting.  At this third meeting significant progress had been made and the Working Groups and Sub-Committees presented their work to date.  The planned 4^thmeeting of the TC will again be back in Calgary, October 15-16, 2007 followed by the 3^rdAnnual CSA Workplace Electrical Safety Conference.
