This is a unique opportunity to witness actual garment test exposures of both common and leading edge protective apparel on Kinectrics Arc-Man. Experts in high performance materials, fabrics and garment technology will be on hand to answer questions and provide useful information about hazards and how protective clothing can help address them. You will receive an update on NFPA 70E and it's Canadian counter-part, CSA Z462. It is also a chance for you to have input into improving the clothing you may wear some time in the future.
Arc-Man is a life size instrumented mannequin fitted with thermal sensors. Clothed in the garments to be tested, Arc-Man is exposed to an arc flash of a predetermined intensity and duration. Data from the sensors is interpreted by computer models that help predict the effectiveness of the garment against the thermal energy of an electrical arc.
